Back-to-school season is my absolute favorite time of year. I worked as an educator for almost 20 years before realizing that I just really like school supplies. School culture runs deep for me; my mom is a teacher, and I spent many late summer mornings sorting through dried-out markers in her pre-K classroom at PS 92. When someone says ‘next year', I always assume they mean September.

My life isn't dictated by the academic calendar anymore, but this season is less about school and more of a vibe. Anyone can tap into the unending possibilities of a box of freshly sharpened pencils. September is the time to settle into a journaling routine and to secure supplies for a cozy autumn of journaling and art.
